Our Story
Esther’s Hobby Shop has been a part of Millville, Pennsylvania since 1934. Esther first opened the doors as a small novelty store, where locals could stop in for simple amusements — even a nickel Coke on a hot day. What started as a modest storefront quickly became a community hub, rooted in Esther’s belief that hobbies were more than pastimes. To her, they were a way to relax, learn, and bring people together. That idea became the shop’s motto: “relax! With a hobby.”
When Esther’s son, Bob Sr., took over the business, he began transforming it into something truly special. With vision and passion, he expanded the shop far beyond its novelty-store beginnings, dedicating it to model railroading and becoming especially well known for N scale. Under his leadership, Esther’s Hobby Shop grew into one of the premier N scale destinations on the East Coast. Bob Sr.’s deep knowledge and welcoming nature made the store a trusted place where hobbyists of every level could find the supplies, advice, and encouragement they needed.
In 2019, the family legacy continued when Bob Jr. took the reins. Carrying forward both his grandmother’s philosophy and his father’s dedication, Bob Jr. has guided the shop into a new era — blending tradition with modern selections to keep the world of hobbies alive and thriving for a new generation.
